The Event:
The Banque Scotia 21k de Montréal et 5k, one of Montreal’s largest running events and host of the Canadian Half-Marathon Championships.

The Challenge:
Eligible charities will be selected to work in partnership with the Banque Scotia 21k de Montréal et 5k. All participating charities have a chance to win cash prizes:
§         $5,000 to the charity with the highest fundraising total  
§         $5,000 to the charity with the largest fundraising team (minimum $10 per member raised)
§         $5,000 awarded to the charity with the most raised per runner average (minimum 10 members)
§         Plus $2,000 awarded to the designated charity of the top individual fundraiser.
 (A Charity can only be eligible to win in one of the $5,000 prize categories)

 

Important rules:

  1. Fundraising totals and awards will be based on standings at 5:00pm on Friday, May 14, 2010.
  2. No charity can win more than one award. In the event that a charity should win more than one category, they will be awarded the prize for the category in which they have the widest margin of victory; the second place finisher(s) in the affected category/categories will then win the other award(s). *
*The $2,000 top individual fundraiser award may be awarded to a charity who has already won another category.

-         What costs are involved?
For the Participants
o       Participants in the event (runners) will be required to pay a registration fee to participate in the event.
  
-         How do I register as a runner?
o       Individuals or groups can register at our event website: www.canadarunningseries.com/monthalf
Note: Please ensure you select that you are a charity challenge runner and select the appropriate charity from the drop down list.
 
-         What are the “key qualities” of the event?
o       Scenic course in the Half-marathon on Ste-Hélène Island of Parc Jean-Drapeau and Notre-Dame Island
o       The 5k course is a scenic loop on Sainte-Hélène Island
o       Half-Marathoners receive a technical fabric shirt and unique finisher medal to mark their accomplishment
o       Safe, accurate course – with ample first aid and a number of water / Gatorade stations along the route

o       Free online training programs, plus a number of clinics to train people for the event throughout  (courtesy Boutique  Endurance)-        

In what other ways can I volunteer?

o       Water Stations – supplement our volunteers at water / aid stations with volunteers from your organization. Charities that take advantage of this are able to brand one of our aid stations with their banners and signage, adding to the recognition and exposure of your cause.

The Objective:
To encourage runners and walkers of all skill levels to participate in the Banque Scotia 21k de Montréal et 5k and to raise funds for one of our official charities. In 2009, over $87,000 was fundraised for the five participating official charities. Our goal this year is to help fundraise $100,000.00 for the selected charities.
